My current teaching role is in GEOG 482 - The Nature of Geographic Information, authored by David DiBiase, which serves as the introductory course in our online Certificate and Masters of GIS program, geared towards working professionals and practicioners. 

In addition to instructor duties, I coordinate many of the functions of the course and its undergraduate resident version, GEOG 160 - Mapping Our Changing World, developing new grading tools and training new assistant instructors.  I am currently co-authoring a TA training course with a colleague in the Dutton Institute. 

Beyond instruction, I help facilitate the relationship between the CPGIS/MGIS program and our partners at World Campus, other academic institutions, and work on overall program development.

                                                      Teaching Assistant

As an incoming MS candidate, I was assigned to run lab sections for the Introduction to Physical Geography course in the department.  It was certainly a challenge as it had been well over 15 years since I had taken any physical sciences myself, yet well into the course I and my fellow TA's were updating the lab manual and writing new labs to accompany the course.

I chose to spend some time overseas before returning to graduate school (and to "test drive" teaching a bit.)  Scoring high marks on the Cambridge CELTA got me in the door of a top European English language institute.  My background in the tech sector made me an ideal match for the school's many techinical and engineering clientele.  I also worked with advanced students on marketing literature and improving presentations and writing.  My work with advanced students (and my American accent) also landed me the role of lead TOEFL coordinator and instructor.  When the TOEFL test was rewritten in 2005, I edited a new course for the school which is still in use today.
